Guildhall East and West Crypts Lighting Replacement and Static Inverter Installation

Guildhall East and West Crypts Lighting Replacement and Static Inverter Installation

Summary of Project:

The supply and installation of several systems that were implemented in the refurbishment of the Guildhall’s East and West crypts was needed. A replacement of the existing lighting was required within the Guildhall 11th century crypts, including the provision of new energy efficient LED luminaires. The provision of new static inverter systems, and their connection to the existing BMS outstation, to provide emergency lighting to the crypts was also used to keep in line with the regulations at the time. Employment of a conservational building specialist to repaint all the mortar joints after cabling installation was completed was necessary to maintain the appearance of the crypts as if the area had remained untouched. The East and West Crypts both required the installation of new luminaires throughout, as well as emergency lighting distribution boards and sub main supply cable, a new 4.5kVA 3hr single phase in / single phase out static inverter and all associated changeover relays. Electrical testing was required for all systems as well as the provision of record documentation and a demonstration for the client. The east crypt required the strip out of redundant lighting cabling and existing luminaires and the installation of new MICC cabling within the crypt and FP200 enhanced back of house whilst the west crypt required the replacement of column luminaires (connecting to existing wiring) and the installation of new FP200 enhanced cabling to serve new window, brick and step lights.
